How Heavy Is a Glass of Water?
By Wayne Harmon
How heavy is a glass of water? Most people will say, “Eight ounces.” But the question isn’t about how much a glass of water weighs; it’s about how heavy it is.
Heavy is relevant.
I can pick up a glass of water with no problem. But, if I hold it at arm’s length it will get heavier the longer I hold it. Eventually I won’t be able to hold it at all. My arm will get tired, the muscles will begin to ache, and I will have to put it down because it will be too heavy.
It’s the same with my “problems”. Sometimes I just need to set them down for a while.
Mat 11:28, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (NLT)
