I Miss the Good Old Days!
By Wayne Harmon
Sigh … I really miss the good old days …
I’m not talking about when gas was cheap and times were simpler.
No. I’m talking about those “good old days” when God was still in control.
You know, before He retired.
I don’t remember hearing any retirement announcement, but that is the only explanation I can come up with regarding the fear that most churches seemed to be wallowing in today.
Mike Huckabee, former Baptist pastor, former Governor of Arkansas and perennial Presidential candidate says that Christianity will be outlawed if the Supreme Court rules in favor of “gay marriage”.
Every Sunday preachers all across America tell their congregations that America is at war with Christianity, and that our country is doomed. Our only hope is to elect godly men and women to public office who will stem this tide of evil that so threatens our way of life. We truly live in perilous times.
In the good old days, when God was still in control of things, Christians faced even worse perils and flourished. In fact, Christianity had its beginning during a time when it was against the law to worship any god other than Caesar.
But God sustained them, and in spite of opposition at the highest levels of human authority, their numbers grew.
But that was then, and this is now.
I have to wonder why God chose retirement. Granted, He had been on the job for a long time, but it does seem that He could have stayed with us just a bit longer.
But, He is God, and I’ll not question His reasons.
I sure do miss Him, though.
